Week 7 (Nov. 8)	Have guardian sign your Native American Creative Writing Story and your Early Civilization exam. Also, make test corrections. Any question you got incorrect on the exam you must rewrite with the correct response. YOU MUST REWRITE THE WHOLE QUESTION WITH THE WHOLE CORRECT RESPONSE (not just the number and letter).
Week 7	Create 8 complex sentences using the vocabulary covered in class (epidemic, quarantine, riot, rodent, infested). Class 702 must write 10 complex sentences.
Week 7	Come up with your own quote on life. Explain its meaning. For example, Machiavelli wrote, “It is better for a prince to be feared than loved…”
Week 8 (Nov. 15)	The Italian Renaissance Worksheet (pg 7-8 in Age of Discovery Packet). Answers must be in full sentences.
Week 8	Map of Europe (pg 9 in Age of Discovery Packet). Use the last page of your planner to locate the places or use your textbook.
Week 8	Middle Age Questions and Marco Polo Worksheet (pg 10 -11 in packet) On the map draw the Silk Road and 5 items that Polo obtained from Asia. Make a legend for the items and path.
Week 8	Vasco da Gama Worksheet (pg 12 in packet). Write down the definitions for the 5 vocabulary terms (navigator, expedition, interfering, fleet, treaties). Create one complex sentence for each. Also, imagine you were traveling with Gama and write a 2 paragraph journal entry describing your expedition. Include information from the worksheet.
Week 9 (Nov. 22)	European Explorers Worksheet ( pg 13-15 in packet). Choose 4 of the vocabulary terms and write one complex sentence for each.
Week 9	Imagine you were Christopher Columbus and had to get King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella from Spain to financially support your expedition to Asia. Write a 2 paragraph speech that persuades them to support you. (Hint: think about what Columbus was searching for)
Week 9	Draw and color the Columbian Exchange on pg 17 of packet.
Week 9	Read about the expeditions of Amerigo Vespucci and Hernan Cortes and create a large Venn Diagram explaining the similarities and differences between the two explorers (found on pg 18 -19 in packet). Each part of the diagram must have at least 5 sentences written in it.
Week 10 (Nov. 29)	Color and label the voyages of the European Explorers found on pg 20 in your packet.

Week 10 (Dec. 3)	Age of Discovery Exam (25 multiple choice questions)
Week 11 (Dec. 6)	Students will choose an Explorer to research and write a biography on. They will have to gather 5 facts about the explorer using their textbook, worksheets, and internet.
Week 11	Students will organize the facts they have written about their explorer.
Week 11	Students will write 2 paragraphs on their explorer, using the facts they previously organized.
Week 11	Students will write another 2 paragraphs on their explorer using the facts they previously organized. This will complete the rough draft of the one-page biography.
Week 11	Students will write the Final Copy of their Explorer Biography. It must be neatly written or typed with correct grammar and punctuation. They must also have a picture of the explorer included with the biography.
Week 12 (Dec. 13)	Students will compose 15 Trivia Questions based on their explorer which will be used for THE NEW WORLD ORDER BOARD GAME.

Week 19	Find 3 examples of propaganda (look in newspapers, magazines, can take pictures of billboards) and explain how each of them is propaganda.
Week 19	Create your own political cartoon. Think about something that really gets on your nerves (ie. Pollution, crime, homelessness, racism). Next, what message do you want to send to people? Lastly, what can you draw to send that message? Draw the cartoon.
Week 19	Complete pages 21-22 in packet.
Week 20 (Feb. 21)	Complete pages 23-24 in packet. Write your answers in the crossword boxes and next to each question.
Week 20	Create 10 flashcards for the unit: Road to Revolution. They can either be written on index cards or in your notebook.
Week 21 (Feb. 28)	Complete half of page 30 (#1-5). Only do the first 5 words, but you must write 3 complex sentences for each.

Week 21	Create your own ‘Declaration of Independence’. In the first part explain the ‘rights that human beings deserve’ and ‘the role of a government in a country’. In the second part explain ‘all the wrongs King George III has committed against the colonists’. In the last part ‘announce the colonies’ freedom’ in your own way. To make the declaration more appealing soak it in coffee or tea for a few seconds to make it look dated. Will have 2 days to complete.
Week 22 (Mrch 1)	Make test corrections for the Road to Revolution exam. Also, get it signed by a guardian.
Week 22	In the new packet, The American Revolution, read page 9 and complete a graphic organizer for George Washington. Write down 4 facts about his family, army life, and jobs.
Week 22	Create a timeline with 8 events from both the Road to Revolution unit and The American Revolution unit. They must be in chronological order and have a 1 sentence description of the event. The timeline must also be in color. This counts as 2 homework assignments.
Week 23 (Mrch 7)	Create a 1 page journal entry, imagining you were an American soldier during the revolution. You could also write a ½ page entry but also include a colored picture.

Week 27 (Apr 4)	Create a poster that contains words and images related to one of the first 10 Amendments. The poster should include a title of the Amendment chosen and a brief paragraph explaining why the images and words relate to the Amendment. For example, if you were to do the 1^st Amendment “Freedom of Speech”, you might include pictures of people shouting. This counts as 2 h.w. assignments.

Week 28	Write final copy of DBQ essay on looseleaf. Make sure you indent when you start a new paragraph and skip one line between each paragraph. This means that after you are done writing one paragraph you will skip a line then start writing your next paragraph. Please write in blue or black pen and you may type it if you like. Week 30 (Apr 25)	Create foreign policy poster. Take a piece of paper and fold it into four. On each piece illustrate each of the foreign policies we discussed in class: isolationism, imperialism, world policeman, and diplomacy. Make sure the poster is in color.
Week 30	In the First Presidents packet complete pages 13-15
Week 30	Rewrite the national anthem. It should be 8 lines long and describe the characteristics of America. Think of it as a poem.
Week 30	Complete practice test in First Presidents packet (pgs. 22-25). You have an exam on Monday, May 2nd.

Week 31	Design and create an advertisement for your own invention. The advertisement should include a picture of your invention, a description of what it does, its sale price, and should be in color.
Week 32 (May 9)	Imagine you were either a child worker or employer during the Industrial Revolution and write a one page journal entry describing what your life is like. You should include information we learned in class.
Week 32	Complete the questions in the persuasive essay packet. The answers should be in full sentences.
Week 32	Write down two pieces of outside information related to each of the documents in the persuasive essay packet. This will be used later on in the body paragraphs of your essay.
