Dear Parents,
Within the last two weeks, it has come to our attention
that some store owners are selling various beverages that contain alcoholic
products mixed in. These beverages are
being sold in Arizona Iced Tea bottles.
These bottles are smoke colored so that there is no way to actually
determine the contents of the bottle. We
have notified our school safety officers who then notified the 90th
Precinct.
Our students are permitted to enter the schools with
beverages in plastic bottles. Glass bottles and aluminum cans are not
permitted. Most students bring in water, apple juice, etc. Some do bring in
iced tea in these smoke colored bottles.
Due to this latest chain of events we are changing our policy on what
type of bottles are permitted. Starting
Monday, May 10th, only clear plastic bottles will be permitted in
school. This will at least
give us an indication that the bottle contains the appropriate liquid upon a
sight inspection.
Our goal is not to create an inconvenience for our
students. Our policies are always formed
out of concern for our students and their well being. If you have any questions or need further
clarification please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
Fortunato V. Rubino
