HOW TO DRESS FOR YOUR GRADUATION CEREMONY

Years of hard work have paid off and now itŐs your turn to wear the gown, cap and tassel!  (Gown, cap and tassel and tickets will be distributed on June 18th in the auditorium).

How to Dress for Graduation (under the gown):

1.             Boys should wear a dress shirt and tie and dark pants, dark socks and dark shoes – NO SNEAKERS OR BOOTS.   A suit jacket is optional - you will be wearing a graduation gown and it can get hot!  Save the suit for the Prom!

2.             Girls should wear a dress, skirt and blouse or dress pants and blouse under their gown.  Save the fancy dress/gown for the Prom.   If wearing heels, please practice walking in them – we donŐt want you to trip and fall during graduation!

How to Style your hair for Graduation:

1.             Boys, get a haircut.  Look neat and wear deodorant – youŐre young men now.

2.             Girls, save the fancy hair-do for Prom – YOU MUST BE ABLE TO WEAR YOUR CAP SECURELY ON YOUR HEAD DURING THE GRADUATION CEREMONY!   Bring bobby pins for your caps!

The gown, cap and tassel:

1.             DO NOT IRON THE GOWN – YOU CAN END UP WITH AN UGLY BURN MARK OR HOLE!  DO NOT WASH THE GOWN!  As soon as you get home, hang the gown up on a hanger and keep the cap and tassel together in the plastic bag and hang the bag with the gown.

2.             IF IT RAINS ON GRADUATION DAY, DO NOT WEAR THE CAP AND GOWN TO THE CEREMONY AS THE RAIN WILL DAMAGE THE CAP AND GOWN.    Keep the gown on a hanger, along with the cap and tassel and place a large plastic bag over the gown to protect it from getting wet.  When you arrive at Fashion High School, you can then put on the gown, cap and tassel.

3.             Tassel is worn on the RIGHT side of the head.  You will be moving the tassel to the LEFT along with your classmates later on during the ceremony.  DONŐT FORGET THE TASSEL!!!

4.             AT THE END OF THE CEREMONY, CAPS WILL NOT BE THROWN INTO THE AIR – STUDENTS HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED BY THIS ACTION.   YOUR PARENTS MAY BE LIABLE IF YOU INJURY SOMEONE.  DONŐT DO IT!

Additional information:

1.    You must arrive at Fashion High School at 8:00am!  Your parents/guardians MAY NOT enter the building until 9:00am.

2.    Remember to give the graduation tickets to your guests BEFORE YOU ENTER THE BUILDING.

3.    You may NOT carry anything or bring anything into the auditorium at Fashion HS on Graduation Day.  NO cell phones, ipods, earphones, cameras, other electronic devices, cameras, purses, book bags, balloons, sunglasses, flowers, corsages, candy, gum chewing, food or drinks!  Leave these items with your parents or guardians.  If any of these items are brought in, they will be disposed of.  YOU MAY ONLY BRING YOURSELF AND YOUR GRADUATION GOWN, CAP & TASSEL – NOTHING ELSE IS PERMITTED!

WHAT TO WEAR TO THE PROM

PLEASE DRESS APPROPRIATE FOR THE OCCASION!

It is recommended that boys wear dress pants, dress shirt and dress shoes.

Girls,  please do not wear anything that is TOO revealing, TOO short,  TOO tight and TOO low cut in front or in back – remember, this is an 8th grade prom!  Attire should be tasteful and appropriate for a school activity.  (YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WALK AROUND BAREFOOT SO BE SURE TO BRING COMFORTABLE SHOES IN CASE YOU WANT TO CHANGE.)

******DANCING - PARENTS AND STUDENTS PLEASE NOTE:

STUDENTS WILL BE CLOSELY SUPERVISED BY SCHOOL PERSONNEL DURING THE PROM.  SEXUALLY SUGGESTIVE DANCING WILL NOT BE PERMITTED!

STUDENTS ENGAGING IN SUCH DANCING WILL BE WARNED THE FIRST TIME, THE SECOND TIME, THEY WILL BE GIVEN A 15 MINUTE TIME OUT AND IF THE BEHAVIOR CONTINUES, THE STUDENT(S) WILL SIT IN THE LOBBY WITH A TEACHER FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE PROM.

OUR DJ IS REQUIRED TO PLAY THE CLEAN VERSION OF THE MUSIC THE STUDENTS LIKE TO HEAR AND DANCE TO.
